SEA-CCHange: Coastal communities’ heritage in times of climate change

Lamalera village in Indonesia is home to one of the last subsistence whaling communities.  Whaling has been central to its cultural heritage and economy for centuries. Climate change and commercial fishing are disrupting whale populations, endangering both livelihoods and traditions. In collaboration with BRIN Indonesia, UU will investigate sustainable adaptation measures that balance cultural preservation with environmental governance.
