The Netherlands faces increasing climate risks due to sea level rise and river discharge, while much of the country lies below critical flood levels. Historically, Dutch water management evolved from adaptive living with water to an engineered battle against it, shaping both infrastructure and national identity. This research, will examine historical and contemporary attitudes toward water management, questioning the implications of fixed systems on climate risk and public perception.
